MEDIA RELEASE
23rd March 2023
NETFIT Netball are excited to release their Calm Colouring Book, a mindfulness resource that NETFIT Netball have developed with community netballers and in partnership with The Confident Girls Foundation, where netballers can share their love for netball combining the relationship between mindfulness and creativity.
Comprising 32 pages of intricate, netball inspired themes, NETFIT Netball’s Calm Colouring is suitable for all ages and has been created by netballers, teachers and parents, Emily Stephens, Emma Wright and Sarah Wall. This trio of netballers saw a way to connect colouring, meditation, family, friends and netball together through this project.
NETFIT founder and former elite netball Sarah Wall is understandably proud of the project, collaborating with friends, who grew up together in country Victoria, to help create a much needed resource for the modern game “Regardless of what level of netball I played, whether it was back home as a kid in the South West of Victoria, or through the pathway system and into my professional netball career, I worked on many mindfulness methods that would help me be more present and “in the zone” on court.” Wall added that the solution was beneficial and adaptable “A combination of mindful activities, pre-game meditations and breathwork helped me alleviate stress and performance anxiety, developing positive life habits that are now a part of my everyday life”
Emma Wright, a former Camperdown local and now Melbourne-based creative artist, jumped at the chance to collaborate during a time when connection and mindfulness was needed more than ever. “I feel privileged to be able to help highlight how powerful mindful colouring can be, in developing healthy habits from a young age.” The stoic goalkeeper further commented “It feels amazing to be a part of something so special and unique.”
Fellow collaborator Emily Stephens, a school teacher specialising in health and wellness, was delighted with how the concept came together, “What started as a conversation quickly snowballed into action and I am just so proud that we could do this together as friends, continuing a journey that started over 25 years ago on the court.” Stephens is delighted with the partnership with The Confident Girls Foundation (CGF) “It embodies everything that we are trying to achieve, so this is just the cherry on top.”
The partnership with The Confident Girls Foundation (CGF) will see 100% of profits generated from any sales of the book donated directly to the philanthropic fund. CGF lead Mari Fenton is delighted with the collaboration which helps support the work CGF continues to do in the community “We are excited about the partnership on this project with NETFIT. The Calming Colouring book will prove to be a great resource for so many young girls whilst at the same time creating an impact to disadvantaged girls nationally. The profits from any sales will go towards community programs aimed at inspiring, empowering, and educating girls in need. This initiative has multiple outcomes.”
The NETFIT Netball Calming Colouring book is available to purchase online at https://netfitnetball.com/shop/, with pop-ups and physical sales at NETFIT’s community programs. Prices begin at $14.99 per book, or a discounted team offer of $120 for a pack of 10 (all prices are inclusive of GST, but are subject to postage charges).
