Julie Fitzgerald lands coaching deal in the Maldives

When people think of the Maldives, they picture turquoise waters, luxury resorts, and island-hopping adventures. Yet among this tropical beauty lies something equally powerful — a budding netball community in the heart of Malé.

Led by passionate and determined women, this community has been quietly building momentum, united in their mission to put Maldives Netball on the world stage.

Now, that dream takes a giant leap forward. Julie Fitzgerald AM, Australia’s longest-serving elite coach and one of the sport’s most respected leaders, is joining Project Dream — a groundbreaking collaboration between NETFIT Netball, Club Green Streets, and MV Netters Academy.

From October 13–20, 2025, Fitzgerald will commence her role as lead head coach, delivering academy coaching sessions, coach-the-coach workshops, and talent identification programs across Malé — bringing world-class expertise to local players and coaches. Her involvement signals a powerful new era for Maldivian netball, focused on elite skill development, international connection, and sustainable growth.

Supported by NETFIT Netball’s Sarah Wall, Project Dream embodies shared passion, partnership, and progress — uniting communities through the power of sport and possibility.
