The floods that have recently impacted northern NSW and our friends at Lismore & districts netball association have been devastating. Waters have completely inundated their courts and clubhouse, and their equipment is unsalvageable.
Lismore District Netball Association, Brunswick Byron Netball Association, Lower Clarence Netball Association and Casino Netball Association saw the destruction of their buildings, equipment, computers, post pads, and many other costly items. Many of our netball families in these surrounding areas and our neighbours further north in the Murwillumbah and Tweed areas have also lost so much.
“As a result of the recent flood activity, many of our Netball Associations and their members, particularly in the Far North Coast region have been seriously affected. Confident Girls Foundation in conjunction with Netball NSW will be supporting our netball communities directly impacted by floods to ensure they can get back to playing the sport we all love.” – Netball New South Wales.
As the water continues to recede, Lismore among many other families and clubs are continually being impacted by the rainfall. Our thoughts continue to be with those in our community who have lost everything. At this time, we extend our deepest sympathies and support to you all. The Lismore netball community are calling for an engaging opportunity for their kids, to lift their spirits and bring some happiness back to the community. NETFIT discussed plans of how we could fundraise for their rebuild, however, all they wanted was for us to visit their town, and invest time into their community. We are excited to be able to bring a group of elite players down to donate their time to bring this netball clinic to life.
Other clubs have come together to donate their money and time to the affected areas and people of Lismore. Manning Valley Netball Association has joined the initiative by donating netball shoes to players in the Lismore area impacted by the catastrophic floods. The generosity of netballers across Australia has been astonishing, coming together from a passion of sport to contributing to rebuilding a community. NETFIT Netball has always been a supportive community, rallying together and lending a hand when necessary and has admired the courage of other individuals and clubs doing the same.
We are excited to be able to bring this free event to Lismore for the netballers to enjoy a full day of netball run by elite netballers. NETFIT is also able to provide everyone with lunches for flood-affected kids on clinic day. With over 150 kids that have already booked, we are so excited to bring this event to life.
