NETFIT EXPANDS INTO TASMANIA
NETFIT Netball is excited to announce the launch of the NETFIT Tasmania Hub in 2023, with NETFIT partnering in the venture with former-elite netballer Fi Geappen (nee Doran). Honouring its commitment to supporting grassroots netball around the nation, NETFIT are excited to bring talented coach Geappan into the NETFIT family, who will be running a range of programs for beginners, full-day clinics, right through to development programs and opportunities for all netballers in Tasmania.
A passionate Geappen, felt Tasmania had been looking for new ways to engage netballers in the state and sees NETFIT as the perfect fit “I am beyond excited to be bringing NETFIT to Tasmania. Netball is hugely popular in Tassie, however the opportunities for young kids to develop prior to reaching club age is limited. NETFIT provides a solution for these kids, with regular opportunities to develop not only their netball skills, but also their confidence”. Fi highlighted that making a positive impact on kids was her drive in creating this opportunity for Tasmanian netballers “‘Working with young children has always been my passion whether in a care, a school or a sports environment. I love seeing young kids not only develop their skills but grow as people”.
“I have been lucky enough to play at both a State & National League level under some amazing coaches. This experience striving to achieve your netball goals certainly presented me with lots of incredible highs and also some disappointing lows, so to now be a coach & have the opportunity to impart some of my knowledge onto young, keen netball kids is something I really enjoy and take great pride in doing” Geappen commented.
The NETFIT Tasmania Hub will kick off its inaugural campaign in January 2023, launching 3 full-day clinics across Hobart and Launceston. NETFIT Netball’s CEO and Founder Sarah Wall is eager to begin the programs. “It’s a wonderful partnership that offers Tasmanian netballers the opportunity to experience qualified professionals and elite netballers providing kids with a boutique netballing experience including training tips, game-day preparation and match play experience.”
In a twist of fate, this partnership continues a connection between Wall and Geappen, despite having never previously met “I believe when Fi retired, I was the young WA that Phoenix (now Vixens) chose to replace her, so for us to be working together now is a great story. Fi is so passionate about helping kids and seeing them remain healthy, active and involved in a team sport, so she is the perfect person to lead NETFIT Tasmania.”
NETFIT Tasmania’s first clinics are available to book now on the NETFIT website, with the full-day (9am-3pm) netballing experience running in Hobart on the 30th and 31st of January and Launceston on the 2nd of February. https://netfitnetball.com/clinics/tasmania/
