3 Ways I Push Past My Comfort Zone Daily

Ask yourself, when was the last time you really wanted to try something but you shied away? Next time you find yourself hesitating, try working through my 3 quick tips that have helped me in netball and life. Living life on your terms is worth the risk.

1) I let perfection go.
Mum always said, nobody is perfect. So that was drilled into me at a young age. So I let go of that unnecessary pressure. As soon as you accept this you will find that you will lose the hesitation that has held you back in the past. It also helps you be happy for others and remove the comparison perfection trait that is not healthy for anyone. You will learn to take risks where before you would have held back. With risk comes the chance of failure, but more importantly, a chance of greatness. Failure is a given when you take risks, but the more you can embrace and learn from it, the better off you’ll be in the long run.

2) You will inspire others.
When I ask young NETFITERS who their role models are, 9 times out of 10 they say, my mum or my coach. Just legendary everyday people. What you do is noticed by others close to you, whether you realize it or not. People are watching you, and what you do gives them an inspiring role model for growth and change. This applies not only at netball, work, but at home with setting an example for all young women. We all have a mentor, teacher or someone in our lives who unknowingly inspired and motivated us to do more than we thought we could. Taking risks and believing in yourself allows you to be that person for others.

3) You will define yourself authentically.
Comfort is often defined by doing what everyone else does and conforming to norms and the pressure around you. By pushing yourself into new areas and writing your own path you will have a chance to authentically define who you are, and break free of the limitations of what others think you should be.
“If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking.”
― Haruki Murakami

A brilliant quote and one that’s quite striking in my mind at the moment. Your energy only thrives off what you feed it, so be bold, be kind take risks and keep going!
